Kaiju No. 8 Anime Synopsis
Kaiju No. 8 tells the story of after their hometown is destroyed, childhood friends Kafka Hibino and Mira Ashiro make a pact to become officers in the Defense Force a military organization tasked with protecting Japan from giant monsters known as “kajiuu.” Decades later, 32-year-old Kafka almost gives up on his dream of becoming a hero.
Decades later, 32-year-old Kafka had almost given up on his dream of becoming a hero. Instead, he cleans up the remains of the slaughtered kaijuu they defeated by valiant warriors including Mina, who has managed to achieve their common goal.
Upon meeting his new coworker, Reno Ichiakwa, kafka faces a reflection of his past self, an ambitious young man whose only desire is to fight as a member of the Defense Force. Unfortunately, the two are soon involved in a strange encounter with a rogue kaijuu. Although Kafka shows his innate heroic nature and saves Reno from catastrophe, he is seriously injured.
While the two men recovered in the hospital, Kafka was apparently attacked by one of the other monsters. As a result, he gains the ability to transform into a humanoid kaiju with the strength and powers of the great monsters that threaten Japan.
Dubbed Kaiju No.8 by the military, Kafka decides to use his new talent for the common good. Bound together by a sense of what honors him, Kafa and Reno set out to join warriors like Mina on the front lines of the Defense Force.***
